Educational overview

Forex

Currency pairs are priced from the exchange rate between two currencies. This page explains the market in general terms. It does not mean Bear Markets currently offers it.

Bear Markets has not confirmed that forex are available to trade. This page explains the market. It is not an offer to deal.

How this market works

A forex pair quotes one currency against another. The first currency is the base, the second is the quote. If the price rises, the base currency has strengthened against the quote currency. Traders can look for the price to rise or fall, which is why losses are possible in either direction.

What can move prices

Prices respond to new information, liquidity and the currency in which the market is quoted. Past movement is not a reliable guide to the next movement.

Risks

You can lose money if the price moves against the position. With leverage, a small price change can have a larger effect on the account. Gaps, weekend closures and changes in margin can add to that risk.

Instruments, hours and contracts

No symbol list is published yet. When Bear Markets confirms the symbols on this account, they will be added here.

Trading hours will be published with the instrument schedule. They are not estimated here.

Contract size, tick value and margin rates are not shown because they have not been supplied.

Terminology

Bid and ask
The bid is the price at which a position can be sold, and the ask is the price at which it can be bought. The difference is the spread.
Volatility
Volatility describes how widely and how quickly a price moves. It is not a measure of whether a trade will make money.
